As does the American Declaration of Independence, our Constitution contains a pledge. Those fifty-six signers’ pledge inaugurated an individual-centered nation. Our Family Pledge inaugurates a family-centered world. It is a pledge to perfect family relationships, each of which, as Father Moon explained, “has its laws. The parent-child relationship has its laws; the relationship between husband and wife has its laws, and the relationship among brothers and sisters has its laws.” So he called the Family Pledge “something like a constitutional law.” There we have the roots of the Cheon Il Guk Constitution.
