Let’s follow True Parents Way into pornography and same-sex attraction. Let’s begin with pornography.
Our culture is saturated with porn. Porn has a narcotic effect that leads to addiction. The temptation lures everyone, especially those who seek goodness and purity. For them, porn becomes an all-consuming torment, a saga of constant defeat in an incessant battle against an invincible enemy.
I find myself just wishing that my life would simply cease.
As Stephen Stills wrote,
Morning comes to sunrise and I’m driven to my bed
I see that it is empty and there’s devils in my head
I embrace the many colored beast;
I grow weary of the torment, can there be no peace?

It is striking how porn addiction besets idealistic populations. The state in the U.S. with the highest online porn subscription rate is the Latter Day Saints stronghold, Utah. The most popular day of the week for viewing porn is Sunday.
Conventional wisdom has it that silence is the problem. Mark Laaser, a major Christian sex-addiction counselor, considers “silence, isolation, fear, shame, secrets” to be the “key to the problem” of sex-addiction.
Silence, fear and shame are indeed a problem. And, yes, knowing that it’s not just my problem can be helpful. But to solve the problem, we need to know the cause.
Religions counseled that silence is golden and “keep calm and just say no,” because they did not know the cause. Through 43 days in spirit world, Sun Myung Moon discovered and confirmed the cause. In 1996, looking back, he said,
“What course did Father have to travel to find Chapter Two, the secret of the Fall? When Father felt the heart of God at the time of the Fall, he traveled to God. Feeling that pain and agony; Father formed a subject-object relationship with the pain.”
